Hi, I’m new to the world of webhosting and am very grateful for sites like this.
I have been looking around this site a lot in hopes of finding info on the right host for me.
I want to go live with a website pretty soon, but first need to find a host to fit my needs.
I need windows hosting, i think, because my database is a MSSql database and my site works with ASP.
I will have a lot of pictures and, like everyone else, my main concerns are reliability and speed. It will be a website where many products (hopefully around a few thousands) will be displayed with their corresponding photo’s and the search function will be very important. Many of the users of my site have sucky internet connections, as do I, because of the ISP’s of my country.
I was looking into lunarpages - but am not sure if their windowshosting package can be upgraded, should I need more power or space.
Can anyone please help me a bit here? Help - any help - would be appreciated. You should look for windows hosting companies who provide ecommerce hosting solutions. You will probably need lots of disc space for a few thousands of photos, and if you need reliability and speed, then I’d recommend you dedicated.
Search the offers section for windows dedicated.Welcome to the forums weerd!

TechEvolution might be one company to consider.Hello weerd and welcome to WHT!

This is an excellent resource and you should be able to find a quality provider w/ some research. You might also want to take a look at jodohost.com and powervps.com.

Good luck w/ your search!Overall jodohost and powervps look good. How long are they in the web hosting market?Hello,

Years and years - Should be listed on their sites.

Best wishes.Wow, Thanks for the welcome and quick replies guys! WHT rules
Well - first off - do I need an ecommerce solution, if I won’t be selling anything through my website?
I have been searching for a while and as soon as I see one i like, I read so many horror stories from past clients - so actually choosing one scares me to death …
I will be looking at the recommended providers, cause lunarpages is shared and I heard it said so often here on the boards that you get what you pay for, so….
I’ll let you guys know what I decide! Thanks again!Hey weerd (how is that pronounced?),

I would add http://www.cartikahosting.com/ to your list of hosts to checkout.Chances are you won’t need an e-commerce web plan per se, but just look at the plans in general to make sure they offer everything you want. A lot of times, the plan names are just more about marketing.

Some e-commerce plans would come with a dedicated IP for an SSL certificate if you needed that.I would say that http://www.FluidHosting.com is by far the best hosting company on the internet for Windows hosting.
