I removed my Norton and have AVPE installed. I am running the internet updater right now and the Antvir Guard says: “Service-Status - Active”. I assume I have it completely installed now or do I need to do anything to set it up with my firewall and my Outlook Express and other programs?

AVPE has an enormous Help file. Check the top bar in the main program and also in the AVGuard.
You do need to allow it to be a server for updates through your firewall. Other than that, you do not need to configure other applications such as your email.
AntiVir works globally, unlike other AV’s which work selectively. AVGuard scans everything entering or leaving your PC. Thus, your email is covered.
AVPE comes as two seperate programs. The main AntiVir program is used to do full scans. The AVGuard is the realtime monitor for when you are online and it usually does your updates (although both aspects can do updates).
